Many developers have put on hold building projects because of the credit crunch and the mortgage crisis. Now that the Fed has cut interest rates by a half a point, projects that have been on hold can see fruition. Some companies were never stopped by the mortgage crunch. A Franklin, Tennessee based company has been in the development phase of a new historic project in Sugar Land Texas. To kick if off in fashion, the award winning company Southern Land Company is bringing together all of the players in an old time charrette. A charrette is a focused brainstorming session held at the beginning of a development project to foster collaboration among a broad cross section of stakeholders. The task at hand - take the old Imperial Sugar Mill Company site and transform the site that was a sugar refinery and mill into commercial, retail and residential opportunities within a neighborhood setting. The charrette being held all week long beginning Sept. 18, will include a web site that goes live and features stories, videos, and interesting information on the site and the new development.
